  4. Mohs Hardness Scale: The Mohs hardness scale is used primarily for minerals and consists of ten reference minerals arranged in order of increasing hardness. A material's hardness is determined by its ability to scratch or be scratched by these reference minerals.
Hardness is influenced by various factors, including the material's composition, crystal structure, grain size, heat treatment, and any surface treatments or coatings.
