Capacitors - Engineering

Q1:

A 330 pF capacitor and a 220 pF capacitor are each connected across a 6 V dc source. The voltage across the 330 pF capacitor is

A 3 V

B 6 V

C 4 V

D 0 V

ANS:B - 6 V

I, from the question, it is evident that capacitors are in parallel, then voltage will be same in each branch (ie, in each capacitor).

II, it is also evident that the supply source is DC, for a DC supply capacitor act as an open circuit.

(if there is any open in a circuit then the supply voltage will be available across the 'open' without any drop).

So, here the voltage across two branches (ie, across two capacitors) are equal as supply.

So, answer is 6V.
