Transformers - Engineering

Q1:

A certain transformer has a turns ratio of 1 and a 0.85 coefficient of coupling. When 2 V ac is applied to the primary, the secondary voltage is

A 1.7 V

B 0.85 V

C 1 V

D 0 V

ANS:A - 1.7 V

K =V2/V1=N2/N1=1, V1=2
V2=K*V1= 1 * 2 = 2v.

The coefficient of coupling = .85 =85*1/100= 85%
That mean 85% primary Flux passes through secondary.

So, 85% secondary Volts, V2=0.85*2=(85/100)*2 = 1.7v
