Given answer is right.

If we take a section in AB member, we can observe that 1000+1000 = 2000 kg load is acting downward. Stress = Load/Area =
2000/σ*1^2 = 2000 kg/cm^2.
Similarly, load acting on member AB = 1000 kg.
And stress = 4000 kg/cm^2.
