A propped cantilever beam in shown in the below figure. The plastic moment capacity of the beam is M0. The collapse load P is

ANS:B - 6 M0/L

There are two plastic hinges formed. One at the fixed support and another below the load.

Hence internal work done = Mo*(2*theta + theta) = 3Mo*theta.

External work done = P*delta = P*theta*(L/2).

Equating we get P = 6Mo/L.
