Q1:

Electrical conductivities of semi-conductors are of the order of __________ ohm/cm.

A 10-3

B 103

C 10-15

D l015

ANS:A - 10-3

The electrical conductivities of semiconductors are typically of the order of 10^-3 to 10^4 ohm/cm. Semiconductors have conductivity values intermediate between those of conductors and insulators. At room temperature, pure semiconductors have relatively low conductivity, but this conductivity can be greatly increased by introducing impurities through a process called doping. Doped semiconductors are used extensively in electronic devices such as diodes, transistors, and integrated circuits.
