Q1: For the construction of highway (or railway)

ANS:C - both longitudinal and cross sections are required

For construction highway or railway we take longitudinal and cross sectional level in regular interval from that we can easily determined the cutting and filling volume. We need both L/S and C/S because at every interval there might difference in land profile so that we will get clear idea of landfilling or cutting to maintain level surface.
