Alternating Current vs Direct Current

Q1: If a sine wave signal is 100 mV peak-to-peak, how many volts would be measured by a voltmeter?

A 14.14 mV

B 35.4 mV

C 63.7 mV

D 70.7 mV

ANS:B - 35.4 mV

Since it is 100mV pk-to-pk it need to be divided in to half to get the Vpeak only. 100mV/2 = 50mV then voltmeter always measure the RMS of an AC voltage.

Therefore RMS value = Vp/√2 = 50mV/√2 = 35.355mV.
