Q1:

Mastic asphalt is generally used for

A damp proof course

B water proof layer

C partition walls

D both (a) and (b).

ANS:D - both (a) and (b).

Mastic Asphalt products comprise of suitably graded limestone aggregates bound together with asphaltic cement which is primarily refined bitumens. This produces a dense, voidless material. However, it cannot be compacted, and is spread by means of a hand float, rather than being rolled.

Mastic asphalt is used for covering terasses, carparks and pavements, urban roads, public facilities, waterproofing engineering structures and sound insulation.
