Programmable Logic Devices (PLD)

Q1: Once a PAL has been programmed:

A it cannot be reprogrammed.

B its outputs are only active HIGHs

C its outputs are only active LOWs

D its logic capacity is lost

ANS:A - it cannot be reprogrammed.

The OR plane of PAL (Programmable array logic) is fixed (not programmable) where AND plane is programmable in PAL. If both are programmable then only it can be re-programmable but here OR plane is fixed. So, PAL cannot be re-programmable.

PLA (Programmable logic array) can be re-programmable.
