Q1: Raw materials for urea production are

A CO2 and N2

B CO2, H2 and N2

C NH3 and CO

D HNO3 and CaCO3

ANS:B - CO2, H2 and N2

The raw materials for urea production are NH3 (ammonia) and CO2 (carbon dioxide). Urea is synthesized through the reaction of ammonia with carbon dioxide in a process known as the Haber-Bosch process. The chemical equation for the synthesis of urea is: 2𝑁𝐻3+𝐶𝑂2→𝑁𝐻2𝐶𝑂𝑁𝐻2+𝐻2𝑂2NH3+CO2→NH2CONH2+H2O In this reaction, ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2) react under high temperature and pressure conditions to produce urea (NH2CONH2) and water (H2O). This process is widely used in the industrial production of urea, a nitrogenous fertilizer, as well as in other applications such as urea-formaldehyde resins and urea-based chemicals.
