Q1:

The __________ of a double acting reciprocating pump as compared to the single acting pump will be almost double.

A flow output

B head developed

C overall efficiency

D weight

ANS:A - flow output

The flow output of a double-acting reciprocating pump, compared to a single-acting pump, will be almost double. In a single-acting reciprocating pump, liquid is drawn into the pump chamber and discharged during only one stroke of the piston or plunger. However, in a double-acting reciprocating pump, liquid is drawn into and discharged from the pump chamber during both the forward and backward strokes of the piston or plunger. This results in a more continuous flow of liquid and effectively doubles the flow output compared to a single-acting pump operating at the same speed and conditions. Therefore, the flow output of a double-acting reciprocating pump is almost double that of a single-acting pump.
