Inductors - Technical MCQs

Q1:

What is hysteresis?

A lead between cause and effect

B lag between cause and effect

C lead between voltage and current

D lag between voltage and current

ANS:B - lag between cause and effect

Hysteresis is graph b/w magnetizing current (x-axis) and magnetism (on y-axis) whenever current changes it produces magnetic field. In transformer for example current changes in primary coil (which is cause) and as a result magnetic field is induced in iron core and in secondary coil (which is effect) so magnetism lags behind magnetizing current.
