Series Circuits

Q1: When one of three series resistors is removed from a circuit and the circuit is reconnected, the current

A increases

B increases by one-third

C decreases by one-third

D decreases by the amount of current through the removed resistor

ANS:A - increases

Since Resistors are connected in series, say same resistance, same current flows through them, ie I/3, I/3 and I/3. When one resistance is removed, the circuit has to compensate that with an increase in current. Therefore, the current increases by I/3.
