Q1: Which coil would be used as a step-up transformer primary if coil number 1 has 100 more turns than coil number 2?

A The coil windings must be the same.

B coil 1

C The coil ratio is too small.

D coil 2

ANS:D - coil 2

For Step-Up transformer; No of Turns in PRIMARY should be LESS THAN the No. of Turns in SECONDARY.

VP/VS = NP/NS.

For Step-Up transformer = VP < VS So, NP < NS.

So, Coil 2 should be used as Step-Up transformer PRIMARY and Coil 1 should be used as SECONDARY.
